Padre Island Dr, Corpus Christi, TX 78412 Floor:ED Hold Beds Building:Bay Area General Information Tell us about the unit(s): Number of Beds 16-44; the census of the unit will vary with ED volumes Number of Staff The ED is typically staffed with 6-9 ED RNs on a shift Type of staff: o Day Shift Charge Nurses, RNs, Unit Secretary, Paramedics o Night Shiftsame as day shift, except unit secretary is off shift from 0000-0700, paramedics off shift from 0300-0700 Patient Ratios maximum 6:1 Type of equipmentIV pumps, EKG machines, telemetry monitors, cardiac monitors, bladder scanner, feeding pumps, wound vacs, orthopedic braces (cervical collars, thoracic/lumbar braces, knee immobilizers), peripheral and central venous access devices (IVs and CVCs), foley catheters, chest tubes EMR -Meditech Typical hiring profile Skill Set Most recruited for: Must have:candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role. Ability to manage titrated heparin drips Preferred or nice to have:candidates with these skills will be considered first. Ability to manage titrated cardiac drips appropriate for a telemetry unit (e.g., amiodorone) List typical procedures performed on unit(s): ED holds require basic nursing care such as medication administration, nursing assessment, peripheral IV insertion, urinary catheter insertion/removal, central venous catheter removal only, central line dressing changes; may float to units that care for post-cath lab patients, ortho/trauma surgery patients (ORIF, hip replacement), thoracentesis, paracentesis, surgical drain management/removal, ostomy care, chest tube management Best personality Fit: This position may frequently float between multiple units to care for medsurg/tele patients; may require floating to our sister hospital across town (10 minutes away). Therefore, candidates should be highly adaptable and ok with floating frequently and should be able to mesh well with new groups of people. REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS: ACLS, BLS Floating Area(s): ED to care for med/surg holds All medsurg/tele units in the facility and at our sister hospital Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs Unit Guidelines/Policies:Please feel free to attach unit policies and guidelines. n/a Weekends andoncall (if any) Rotating weekend schedule
